Preamble: - The Reich is a republic means the democratic form of government established in Germany end of World War I by abdication of the German monarchy ruled by a Kaiser (Emperor) and various kings and princes. The defeat of Germany in World War I, and the internal political pressure led to the abdication of Kaiser Wilhelm II in November 1918, effectively ending the monarchy. The Weimar Constitution made it clear that Germany was now a democratic republic. The political power would be derived from the people through elections by electing a president, rather than a hereditary monarch. In 1933, Hitler and the Nazis came to power, and they subsequently dismantled the Weimar Republic, establishing a totalitarian regime.
